  Sunderlal Bahuguna JI, a great Indian Environmentalist expired on 21st May 2021. From the Department of Sociology, GFGC, Chikkaballapura, External videos on CHIPKO MOVEMENT, HIS INTERVIEWS were shared. After watching and listening to them they were asked to send voice clippings and write ups. We are very happy that few students turned fulfilling the activities along with their online classes.   Sharing stories together for just  ten minutes a day  will encourage a love of reading and it’s fun for everyone! You can read together  anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime!  In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.  World Book Day is a  celebration of reading , authors, illustrators and books. It’s designated by  UNESCO  as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. In the department of Sociology, GFGC, Chikkaballapura, we decided to ask students to read some books and come up with some stories. Two students came forward and made an effort to share a story via voice clip.  Online classes As the Pandemic continued, we the faculty members had to continue with ONLINE CLASSES even for even semester after few days of working offline. With all the challenges from students side we are trying our level best to reach students from ZOOM, GOOGLE MEET, YOUTUBE, PODCAST, WHATSAPP, CONFERENCE CALLS.

  It gave me immense pleasure to address the SOCIOLOGY students at GFGC, Gauribidanur. Indeed it was wonderful experience.  On 18th March 2021, I spoke about "GENDER SENSITIZATION", it was special lecture. I shared all the common feelings from students point of view.  I am very thankful to Ashwath Sir, Asst Prof/HOD Dept of Sociology for giving me this opportunity. Thankful for the hospitality from Principal Prof. Shivanna M, Sir, all other faculty members and students.

 Its very important to document the academic activities organized in the department. But due to lots of various other works related to IQAC, Research I could not do that here in writing.   I ( Deepa S.V, Asst Prof/HOD, Dept of Sociology, GFGC, Chikkaballapura ) was invited by Smt Rekha, Asst Prof, Department of Sociology, GFGC, Peenya from sociology forum VIKASANA, on 23rd Feb 2019, to give lecture on Problems of Third Gender. Almost 95 students were present for the session. The reaction from students was really very nice. I am thankful to Rekha for an opportunity. Shri Prakash sir, Principal sir and Dr Gangaraju Naik sir senior faculty department of History were very humble. The other teaching faculty were also very friendly. I wish all the best to Rekha madam for further academic events in the department.

  As directed by BNU, Online classes for 2nd & 3rd Year were inaugurated on 1st September, 2020, via Google Meet App. Few Final year students came online to listen the class. With I ntroduction of Syllabus of Sociology of Women , the classes began. As the students came up with lots of network issues and others, they requested for flexibility in the classes. Hence I decided to take the classes via Google Classroom by attaching the video link of my YouTube channel and other external Videos. Even for me also, It was quite difficult to take classes from college, as there was network fluctuations, staff room was full of Faculty and students were coming for admission approval.

  On 23rd January 2020, Voters' Day was celebrated at GFGC, Chikkaballapura. Senior Faculty, Prof. Sujatha K, Dept of Kannada, Deepa S.V. Asst Prof, Dept of Sociology and Tajunnisa, Asst Prof, Dept of Kannada, were in charge of organizing the various competitions as directed by Principal. Students showed lot of Interest in participating in the event. Competitions like Quiz, Essay Writing, Skit Performance were organized.

  The Department of Sociology, Invited Prof. Sujatha K, Department of Kannada, GFGC, Chikkaballapura on 5th March 2020, to speak on the same topic and enrich our students. The event was organized by Deepa S.V, Asst Prof, Dept of Sociology, GFGC, Chikkaballapura All students with lots of Zeal attended the event. Prof. Chandraiah G.D, Principal, GFGC, Chikkaballapura was supposed to Preside over the event, but due to emergency work in Head office, he conveyed wishes to the department. After madam spoke about Gender Sensitization, both Boys and Girls reciprocated with lots of discussion on Gender inequality, Gender Discrimination, How to achieve equality etc were raised by students.

  National Students Union of India of regional level @ Chikkaballapura, had organized International Women's Day 2020 celebration at Ambedkar Bhavan.  The students who participated in the competitions at GFGC, CB Pura were felicitated with cash prize. Students felt very happy.

  Women Empowerment Cell @ GFGC, Chikkaballapura, planned to organize WOMEN'S DAY on 18th March 2020. Prior to that few competitions were planned to be organized, hence with regard to this, the responsibility was given to Deepa S.V, Asst Professor, Department of Sociology and Tajunnisa, Asst Professor, Department of Kannada.  The following Competitions were organized on behalf of Women Empowerment Cell. Essay Writing, Pick and Speak and Sing in a Minute. Students with great difficulty participated, as already COVID 19 effect had started. On 12th March 2020 , the events were organized.

  The Department of Sociology, on 18th October 2019 , planned for the Guest Lecture session on "Key Issues in Science & Society". Mr Harisha K,  Faculty, Department of Environment Science , GFGC, Yelahanka, was invited to speak on Environmental issues related to various aspects. The response from students was really very nice. There was interaction from students with regard to Eco system, Bio Diversity and other related issues. 

  All the students presented their thoughts through seminar. Few had not done due to personal problems. they all did their task on 24th October 2019.
